English

I think that to know English aid a lot in the life.  I know that when among to work is going to help me to unfold me a lot better and besides will permit me to agree know new texts, new authors, and new investigations that will help me a lot in my studies as the sociologist. Though the English helps a lot, is difficult to have a branch of English in the university because the academic load of the other branches does not permit that we learn well and we dedicate him all the necessary time.  Besides I believe that is very difficult to learn English thus and I believe that the only way to be able to learn well is going to a country of English speech or having courses of intensive English.
I think that the aspect that more have to improve in English is my vocabulary because is very scarce, I know very few words and they are forgot me other.  I think that I do not have so bad pronunciation, but as do not I know well how the words are pronounced, costs me to speak fluid in English.
Out of classes I don’t use a lot the English, only I use it to know what the songs of my favorite groups say. Also I use it to read some articles of sociology that are in English, but I ask aid to my friends to do it because I delay a lot and I do not have a lot of time to dedicate it to that.
I know that should practice a lot more English to be able to improve, in fact does not cost me a lot to learn, but I have very bad memory and they are forgot me quickly the words that learn.

Studies and Job

Now I’m going to talk about the studies I’ve done in the University and  the job I would like to have in the future.

In the University I’ve studied things related with the relationship between space and social phenomena,  fir this reason I’ve taken a lot of classes that are about this subject, such as urban sociology and rural sociology. I like these subjects because I think that the space influences how the social problems are form, such as social exclusion, communication, and marginalization.

I would like to have a job related to this, like for example doing investigations in the field, to get to know places and its problems, so we could help the places to be better and its communities. I would really like to go and work at the south of Chile, because there are places that are not taking into consideration and they need a little help to make advances.

The aspects  to take into consideration to choose my job, would be the time that would occupy to do it because I’m comitted to other activities, that I pretend to keep doing in many years more, specially because it’s a job that I do with other people and I can’t leave them. Also I would considerate the quality of the human group that I would be working with, because its very important to have good partners in this type of job. And also that they are as committed as you are.

If they ask me on a jov interview, what are my strenghts and my weaknesses, i would say that i am able to analyze different problems with a critical eye. Also I can do a summary of stuff, I like alking to people and I also have a great commitment with my job and the people.

Discrimination

In Santiago there is a lot of discrimination, specially to the gay and Peruvians. This is so bad because they are teatred very badly, and excluded, also their civil rights are not respected. This is because there is no education that teaches to the respect others. In Chile there is a lot of racism and male chauvinism, and this has negative effects on family and social relationships.

In general, the people discriminate because he likes to make fun of other defects and has also learned to discriminate. But there are also people who discriminate by social class, and that’s the worst thing you can do in the world.

We need to develop a culture that teaches us to respect people who are different from us, regardless if they are female, male, gay or Peruvians. And this must be taught from an early, in the families, in the school, in the television, etc. The state should also take care of respect among people, because they can intervene in the school books to incorporate this kind of subject, and also have much money to invest in campaigns to reduce discrimination in Chile. We can change we mentality and habits, only we must strive in this, and spread it among our friends.

I never felt driscriminated, but I think that in this country a lot, because good quality education accessible only people who have a lot of money, and that I felt discriminated because my family is not rich, so I couldn’t go to school quality. This is something that needs to be changed in Chile.
